Roy Dsousa

Director of Football

OFC/NZF B License, NZF Junior Level 3

Roy Dsouza came to Fencies in 2019 as a first team player and coach, following an extensive career as a professional in India. Roy has university education in strength & conditioning, with his own business run alongside coaching at the club. With a passion for all things football, Roy joins us a the DOF at the end of the 2024 season.

Rhys Ruka

Mens First Team Head Coach

Qualifications: OFC/NZF B License,

Ruka joins Fencibles in 2024 after coaching spells at Manurewa and Manukau United, and after a long playing career with Northern League and National League clubs.

After playing Ruka moved into coaching at Manukau United, and then joined Manurewa as head coach in 2021. In 2022, he led Manurewa to promotion from the Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship into the Northern League.

His playing career includes spells with Bay Olympic, Hamilton Wanderers, Waiheke United and Cook Islands’ club Tupapa Maraeenga.

Simon Motie

Womens First Team Head Coach

Qualifications: OFC/NZF B License,

Darryl Hamilton

U14s NRFL Boys & U16 NRFL Girls Team

Qualifications: OFC/NZF C License (B pending)

Age Group Coaching: TDP/NRFL Coach & Academy Coach

Darryl started at Fencibles as a player back in 2003. Darryl has had great success over the year, which have been performing at a high standard year after year. This season Darryl was appointed our player development manager and has worked on not only our players development but the overall growth of the club.

Mikey Poulopoulos (Mikey P)

Qualifications: OFC/NZF C License & First Aid Level 1

Age Group Coaching: TDP/NRFL U17 Grade and Academy Coach

Mikey brings with him a passion and attitude like no other. Mikey is enthusiastic and has a real love for the game - something which is clearly evident in his sessions with the players. He has experience playing for Sacred Heart 1st XI as a player, and then as coaches at Coerver Academy and Papakura FC. Mikey has a great knowledge on building skill and technical ability in his players. He sees his players not just as athletes, but also as developing young people, and is intent on improving their ability to tackle life both on and off the pitch.
