Futsal Rules & Draw
Basic Game Format
- Number of Players:
- 5 per team (1 goalkeeper + 4 outfield players)
- Match Duration:
- 2 halves of 12 minutes (stopped clock)
- 1-minute halftime
- Substitutions:
- Unlimited rolling substitutions
- Must occur within the designated substitution area (play does not stop)
- 4 second rule:
- The 4 second role is for any dead ball situation or goal keepers’ possession. The referee will count out loud to 4 once the player is in position (or deemed ready position if time wasting) and defending players are at least 4 meters away. If the referee gets to 4 without the ball being played a kick-in is awarded to the other team.
Goalkeeper Rules?
- 4-Second Rule: Must release the ball within 4 seconds when in possession from kick-in or keeper possession)
- Backpass Rule: Normal futsal rules does not apply (outfield roles apply)
- No Goal Kicks: Instead of a kick restarts the keeper must throw/roll from within penalty area)- within 4 seconds
Restarts
- Kick-ins (instead of throw-ins):
- Awarded when the ball goes out of play on the sideline
- Ball must be placed on the line and kicked in within 4 seconds (this will be coached by the ref, not necessarily enforced)
- Corner Kicks: Must be taken within 4 seconds
Scoring
- Goals can only be scored from within the opponent’s half
- Goals can be scored directly from a corner or restart (kick off)
- Goals cannot be scored directly from the sideline kick-in (another player needs to touch it before it crosses the line)
