Fencies on Fire! U17 National Tournament 1st and 2nd placing!

Huge congratulations to our teams who just finished the U17 National Tournament at Western Springs over the past weekend. The only club to have 2 teams in the finals, we think winning one and runners up in the other is pretty cool!

Incredible to think 14 of the girls squad and 13 of the boys squad are eligible again next year. The future is very bright.

GIRLS

Our Fencibles U17 girls team won the final 2-1 against Western Springs, ending four days of competition at Seddon Fields for 16 of the country’s best young U17 girls teams. In the 10th minute Taylah Byers scored and Zoe Brazier scored with eight minutes to go giving us a two nil lead. Western Springs scored late in the game and proceeded to chase an equalizer. A nail biter of a finish but our girls held on.

The road to the final.

SF 1-0 win over Wellington Phoenix

BOYS

Our Fencibles U17 boys lost in the final against East Coast Bays, ending four days of competition at Seddon Fields for 24 of the country’s best young U17 boys teams. The game was a tense affair with us conceding a goal in the first half. Kodie Nicol scored with 10 minutes to go. At one all, the game got more intense. With less than three minutes remaining in normal time we conceded a free kick just outside our penalty area. The freekick was curled over the wall and into the net, giving East Coast Bays a 2-1 lead, the win and us runners-up. An incrediable effort by our boys.

The road to the final.

SF 1-0 win over Eastern Suburbs

QF 3-1 win over Auckland United

Well done to all the coaches (Mikey, Simon, James, Rosie, Marty), all 36 players and a huge thanks to the Nicol's along with our other amazing supporters for their support off the field.
