End of an Era. Riverhills Park main pitch redevelopment

5 Sep

The last games ever were played on our much loved Riverhills Park number 1 grass pitch last weekend. The end of an era but the start of an exciting future. The pitch now has been handed over to the contractors. A new artifical turf will be installed by Polytan who are a German manufacturer of synthetic turf systems and synthetic sport surfaces. They have installed their surfaces all around the world. The surface being developed at Riverhills Park will be the first of its kind in New Zealand. It should all be completed for the start of our 2024 season.

The Polytan turf was used by the Matildas at their home base (State Football Centre, Bundoora, Victoria) during their World Cup campaign in Australia and is also used on FIFA's three pitch's in Zurich.

Exciting times ahead, so keep a look out for the transformation when driving down Gossamer Drive or Ti Rakau Drive over the summer.
