Youth Girls Development Plus Programme

Fencibles Girls Development Plus Squad Teams is part of our Development Plus Programme. These are the top talent teams for each of our youth grades and are for players that wish to train and play two/three times a week with a dedicated professional coach. Players will need to attend trials and or be invited to play via our Summer Academies.

The Northern Region Football (NRF) administers the draws, which are available online. Any changes to this will be communicated by the team manager and/or coach. 

Development Plus Programme Squads

Pre-season registered 13th - 16th grade players will be invited to attend the open trials or alternatively assessed within the Fencibles Summer Academy to be part of a Fencibles Development Plus squads. Players selected into a Development Plus squad will be required to train three or two times per week and will play on saturdays in one of the following leagues:

  • Girls NRFL Youth League (essentially the 1st XI of the age group)
  • The NRFL Youth Leagues for girls are dual age bands namely U14 age group (13 & 14 year olds) and U16 age group (15 & 16 year olds).
  • Competitions organised by Northern Region

NRFL Youth League teams are required to have a coach qualified to a minimum of NZF/OFC C Licence (or equivalent). All NRF League teams will have a suitably qualified coach with a minimum of NZF Youth Level 2 qualification.

The 2022 football season will play over term 2 and term 3 of the school calendar. Start date is on 8th May and will finish 25th September. There will be no football over the first two weekends of the July school holidays (10th & 17th July) but there will be football on the last weekend of the holidays (24th July).

Grading is strictly based on the year of birth:

2011 – 13th Grade | 2011 & 2010 – U14 Grade | 2009 & 2008 – U16 Grade | 2005, 2006 & 2007 – U19 Grade

Team Kits

All players should wear Fencibles playing shirt, shorts and socks. These can be purchased online from Inter Football. Click here for more information It is recommended that shin pads are worn. If training on William Green during the week moulded soled boots are compulsory on the Turf (no screw in studs as it damages the turf).

Fixtures

The weekly allocation of fixtures and field locations will be published on the Northern Region Football (NRF) website. These can also be accessed vis the above Fixtures tab.

Home games are usually played at: William Green Domain, Riverhills Park & Greenmount Reserve
Away games are usually played at: Other club locations throughout Auckland including on the North Shore. Away games may also include Northland (Whangarei).

Teams

Team Squads usually consist of up to 16 players. Players wanting to play fin these teams will need to attend a trial for them. Teams are usually announced during April and will be emailed out by the Grade Convenor.

Coaches

All NRFL Youth League teams are required to have a coach qualified to a minimum of NZF/OFC C Licence (or equivalent).

Cost                                                       

There is an additional cost to the standard fees for this programme. Where the Club is able to provide a suitably qualified coaches for the Development Plus Programme, there will be an additional fee required to cover the expenses of this coach.The cost will be communicated on selection.

Parents/Supporters

All supporters are welcome to watch games from the sidelines and provide encouragement to all players but leave specific football comments to the coach. All parents and supporters need to watch games from behind the fence at William Green Domain and not enter the turf unless they have the correct footwear.

Those interested in playing an active role supporting the players could;

  • Manage a team – working with the coach
  • Coach a team for 1-2 training and 1 game per week
  • Enrol in a Club Based Referee (CBR) course so they can referee games 
  • Run the line as an Assistant Referee.
